Gupta, chairman of Clarity Salt, while addressing the media to mark the launch of Saindhav rock salt here in Mumbai.

Mined from ancient salt deposits that are millions of years old saindhav is the purest form of salt with no impurities. In fact, this is the salt that is truly vegetarian. It also contains 74 trace minerals imparting it several properties that make it good for health. “No wonder, Saindhav is used in more than 200 Ayurvedic preparations and is recommended for many common ailments”, added Mr. Gupta.

There were times when Saindhav salt was commonly used in India except the South. The older generation of Indians is still aware of the goodness of Saindhav and would prefer it to the salt obtained from seawater.

But due to historical factors the availability of quality rock salt became an issue and people had no option but to switch to sea salt. “With the launch of Saindhav the discerning Indian consumer will now have an easy access to the finest quality mineral salt from the best known sources the Hindkush region of the Himalayas and the Atacama Desert in Chile” said Mr. Gupta unveiling the Saindhav pack to the packed media audience.

Added Dr. Rank, who  is a world-renowned authority on salt with many books on the subject to his credit.

Nearer home the study at the University of Madras a research associate of Clarity salt has indicated that Saindhav is beneficial in combating diabetes and arthritis. The research also shows that Saindhav increases metabolic efficiency and helps reduce weight without reducing food intake.

Ms. Tarla Dalal, the well known dietician recommends Saindhav for its gentle floavor enhancing taste.”It makes all kind of cooking tastier.” says Ms. Dalal.

Some ancient texts also recommend it for its excellent aphrodisiac properties.

Saindhav salt comes in a 500 gram pack with hologram to protect duplication. Priced at Rs. 10/- for half kilo it is expensive compared to sea salt. But as Mr. Gupta puts it, “It’s like comparing apple and oranges. Sea salt is neither pure nor vegetarian. It also contains hazardous chemicals that are added to make it white and free flowing. Where as Saindhav has been created by nature over millions of years for the good of humanity. It is free from any kind of chemicals with natural anti-caking and free flowing quality that last for life. Seen from the point of the family’s health, it is like mineral water for which the discerning consumer is happily paying Rs. 13 for a one litre bottle. Therefore, no housewife is going to mind an investment of one rupee a day to enhance her family’s health.” Explained Mr. Gupta. In Maharashtra Saindhav is being distributed by Society Tea. Saindhav is being introduced by Clarity Salt, a Gupta Group Company. Gupta group has interests in real estate, commodities, entertainment, software development, bullion and gemstones.
