Poison Warning
Since 1997 the FDA requires that a poison warning label be placed on fluoride toothpaste. It had been found that hundreds of children were treated every year for accidental overingestion of fluorides (1).
In response the ADA had this to say:
- "The American Dental Association's (ADA) Council on Scientific Affairs believes... that the label greatly overstates any demonstrated or potential danger posed by fluoride toothpastes."
Further, the ADA claimed:
- "Through its ADA Seal of Acceptance program, the toothpaste manufacturers must submit clinical data to the ADA in order to meet its guidelines on safety and effectiveness. Additionally, all products with the ADA Seal must submit the product's advertising and packaging for review so that consumers and dentists have assurance that the claims the product makes are supported by the clinical data."(2)
That these claims are not true can be seen in the patents held by the ADAHF itself (see: Enamelon).
After years and years of handing out the “Seal of Approval” to fluoride products (for money) by the ADA, the patent informs:
- "Previous mouthwashes and dentifrices containing fluoride contributed relatively modest amounts of additional fluoride to the tooth surfaces, and scavenged calcium from the teeth..."
“Scavenging calcium from the teeth” means “White Spots” and demineralization - the very basis of caries development!
